In general, setting up a bank account in Poland requires the status of a resident, a certificate of registration and an identity document (e.g. temporary foreigner’s identity certificate).

Special offers for maintaining standard accounts

Some banks have decided to implement special offers for Ukrainian citizens.


The Bank decided to exempt Ukrainian citizens from fees for maintaining a personal account and debit card service in the period from March 1, 2022 to February 28, 2023. 

Bank Pekao SA

Bank Pekao SA currently does not charge Ukrainian citizens for debit card service, withdrawals from all cash machines in Poland and the world, and currency transactions.

From June 30, 2022, the charge of fee for cash deposits/withdrawals at bank branches has been suspended. 

Bank Pocztowy

Ukrainian citizens, from march 1, 2022 to February 28, 2023, are exempt from the charge for maintaining the account. They will be refunded the fee for the use of cards issued to this account and are not charged with a fee for all SWIFT transfers sent to Ukraine.

The abolishment of the above fees is valid until February 28, 2023.


BNP Paribas Bank has introduced free funds transfers to Ukraine (fee refund within a maximum of 2 business days). In addition, PLN 0 for basic services – free withdrawals from all cash machines in the country and free deposits and withdrawals for Ukrainian citizens in bank branches throughout the country.

Getin Bank

In the special offer until 31.12.2022, citizens of Ukraine may receive free of charge: 

  • maintaining the Simple Rules and a currency account’
  • debit card services,
  • withdrawal and deposits in all polish Banks, 
  • outgoing transfers with the SWIFT code “UA” to any Ukrainian bank
  • for cash payments (PLN, EUR, USD, GBP, CHF) in Bank branches to the account of a Ukrainian citizen,
  • for cash withdrawal (PLN, EUR, USD, GBP, CHF) in Bank branches from personal account.


When creating an Account for a Refugee, Ukrainian citizens do not pay for:

  • setting up and maintaining an account,
  • issuing and using a credit card (contactless Visa card),
  • domestic transfers,
  • international transfers.


While creating a TransferWise, no maintenance fees will be charged for 12 months from the day of opening one. In addition, the fees for a quick transfer to Kredobank and for transfer order to any bank in Ukraine have been exempt.


The Bank does not charge fees for maintaining accounts for old and new customers – Ukrainian citizens.  

Current Ukrainian customers are exempt from paying fees for: 

  • maintaining an account in PLN and currency,
  • debit cards.

The exemption applies to:

  • monthly fee per card,
  • mini-draft fees (summary of the last 10 transactions printed at a cash machine),
  • fees for asking about the balance in the cash machine,
  • fees for the card renewal.

For new customers – citizens of Ukraine who open an account from March 1, 2022, the bank offers exemption from fees for:

  • maintaining the ,,Account I Want”,
  • Tailored card. The exemption applies to:
  • monthly card fee,
  • mini-draft fees (summary of the last 10 transactions printed at a cash machine),
  • fees for asking about the balance at bank cash machines.

The fee exemption is valid from March 1 to September 30, 2022.

Bank Millennium

Bank Millenium has exempted Ukrainian citizens from fees for maintaining a bank account, credit card, and every withdrawal from cash machines.
